Through invasive species removal, native plantings, barrier removals, and other projects, Ohio River Foundation creates more climate change resilient habitats.

Interested in supporting our work? Need to implement a habitat restoration project? With 50+ years of combined experience, Ohio River Foundation works with private and public landowners to implement and manage their projects and to assist with obtaining project funding. Fund a project.

1,000+ Acres Pollinator Project

We're launching the largest pollinator restoration project in our region, creating and restoring more than 1,000 acres of native habitat, benefiting the monarch butterfly and other pollinator species that are threatened, protected, or in decline due to habitat loss.

Invasive Species Removal

Our work removing these harmful plants enhances the habitat for native flora and fauna and improves water quality.

Native Plantings

Native plantings in riparian areas and floodplains improve the habitat for wildlife, help prevent erosion and keep the waterway cleaner.

Barrier Removal

Barrier removal restores a waterway's natural flow which helps native species, eliminates algal blooms and creates safer conditions for recreation.

Ohio River Valley CISMA

CISMA is a coalition of nonprofit organizations, agencies and businesses working to control and remove invasive species.

THE IMPACT

Your Donation Makes a Big Impact

$25 can provide food for the freshwater mussel “ambassadors” we use in our Mussels in the Classroom program.
$100 can buy water quality equipment to enable us to identify pollution problems.
$500 can help 50 students be River Explorers for a day of learning in a river or creek.
$1,000 can plant 100 native trees to restore critical habitat and help keep our water clean.
