ORF hosts a successful summer program

During the last two weeks of June, ORF offered its first-ever Student Conservation Leaders course. Two different groups of high school students had the opportunity to experience the week-long program, led by our senior education staff. Nisbet Park in Loveland served as home base for the first week’s students, while Avoca Park in Columbia Township filled that role during week two.

Over the five-day program, students had hands-on learning experiences that ranged from fish sampling to invasive plant removal to water chemistry testing. In the process, they developed their abilities in leadership, stewardship and conservation.

As one student noted in their exit survey, “it was a fascinating and fun experience which taught about very important things I think everyone should know.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
