Ohio River Foundation Receives Nearly $100,000 in Funding for Habitat Restoration Work

Ohio River Foundation (ORF) has received almost $100,000 in funding for its Invasive Species Removal Strike Force (ISRSF) activities in Greater Cincinnati. Corporate volunteers from throughout Greater Cincinnati participate in hands-on restoration work to remove invasive species and, in some cases, plant native trees in removal areas. Funding for this program is provided in part by The Duke Energy Foundation, L.L. Nippert Charitable Foundation, and The H.B., E.W., and F.R. Luther Charitable Foundation, Fifth Third Bank, N.A., Trustee.

High School Students Invited to Celebrate World Water Day 2024: Meet Hellbenders, Mussels, and Scientists Working to Save Them

During this FREE online event, students will connect with some of the coolest and craziest freshwater creatures found in our local watershed. We will explore what watershed conservation looks like right here in our own backyards. In addition, we will also host a panel of scientists and professionals in the field to discuss careers in conservation science and watershed biology.

  • $25 can provide food for the freshwater mussel “ambassadors” we use in our Mussels in the Classroom program.
  • $100 can buy water quality equipment to enable us to identify pollution problems.
  • $500 can help 50 students be River Explorers for a day of learning in a river or creek.
  • $1,000 can plant 100 native trees to restore critical habitat and help keep our water clean.
