“Wild & Scenic Film Festival” returns to Cincinnati June 8 at Woodward Theater

CINCINNATI, OHIO (March 8, 2018) – A national showcase of environmental and adventure films will return to Cincinnati this June with a new date and a new venue.

Ohio River Foundation (ORF) will once again host the “Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour,” one of the largest festivals of its kind in North America. This year’s installment of the short film festival will take place on Friday, June 8 at The Woodward Theater, 1404 Main St. in Over-the- Rhine.

The historic beaux-arts-style building is a fitting setting for a film festival: The Woodward first opened as a movie theater under the same name back in 1913. (It reopened as a music venue and event space in 2014.)

Last year’s event, the first time the festival was seen in Cincinnati, took place in October and featured a dozen highly engaging films on topics such as restoration, water quality, sustainable agriculture, wildlife protection and outdoor adventure.

This year, the festival will follow a similar format, kicking off with a 6 p.m. reception during which attendees can connect with local environmental groups while enjoying complimentary light bites. A cash bar will be available. Film screenings will begin at 7 p.m. A raffle will take place during intermission.

As with the original five-day festival in Nevada City, California, the “On Tour” edition of the event is meant to inspire action. ORF hopes the Cincinnati festival will increase local understanding of the connection we share with the planet and our role as stewards to keep it healthy for future generations.

ORF is currently seeking additional sponsors for the event. Sponsorship levels start at just $50.
