World Water Day – with ORF and TMU Field Station

World Water Day Online Event: Explore Native Aquatic Wildlife and Science Careers

Celebrate World Water Day with the Ohio River Foundation (ORF) and Thomas More University Biology Field Station.

During this FREE ONLINE event, High School Students will connect live with staff from ORF and the Field Station, and meet some of the coolest and craziest freshwater creatures you can imagine! We will also host a panel of scientists and specialists in the field of water conservation to discuss science careers.

We will tour students around the Thomas More University Biology Field Station where you will see vulnerable species of freshwater mussels and hellbender salamanders found in our own Ohio River watershed. We will share some of their fascinating natural history and help students understand the importance of a healthy watershed. We will then sit down with several professionals working in research and conservation biology to discuss what it’s like to work in the field of science and how they got to where they are today. Students are encouraged to submit and ask their own questions about preparing for their future school and career choices.

We all rely on access to abundant, clean, and healthy fresh water. Let’s celebrate World Water Day by taking a look at what is being done in the Ohio River Watershed to protect and conserve this precious resource.
