Honoring MadTree Brewing: Rooted in Conservation

We are thrilled to present the Habitat Conservation Award to MadTree Brewing for their dedication to reforestation and environmental sustainability. Since 2019, they’ve planted nearly 1,000 trees across Cincinnati and contribute to planting over 5,000 trees annually. Through their “Let’s Grow Local” initiative, they unite partners, sponsors, and volunteers to expand green spaces and strengthen communities. Their support of the Cincinnati Parks Foundation ensures local tree planting efforts continue to thrive.

Hear from Rhiannon: A Leader in Restoration and Impact

We’re excited to welcome Rhiannon, V.P. of Experience and Impact at MadTree, as a speaker at our event! Known for her innovative leadership, Rhiannon has driven MadTree’s brand and sustainability efforts, culminating in B Corp Certification in 2023. Now, she’s bringing her vision to MadTree’s newest location, Parks & Rec, as they aim to become the most inclusive restaurant in the nation. Rhiannon will also be accepting the Habitat Restoration Award on behalf of MadTree Brewing, honoring their dedication to environmental stewardship.

Celebrating our Awardees: Mike Fremont and Michael Miller

Mike Fremont has been a passionate advocate for the protection of Ohio rivers. He founded a statewide river protection group that successfully lobbied the Ohio government to protect state waters. Focused on the Little Miami River, he collaborated with Ohio State University to highlight the economic benefits of clean water, using this strategy to drive positive environmental change with government organizations.

Michael Miller has spent over 40 years researching aquatic ecosystems, focusing on nutrient dynamics, primary production, and climate reconstruction in regions like S.W. Ohio, the Alaskan Arctic, and South America. He has trained 49 graduate students, secured funding for 30 years, and contributed to major studies, including a 981-mile Ohio River analysis. In retirement, he works with nonprofits like Rivers Unlimited and the Ohio River Foundation, leading water quality monitoring at 200 sites and supporting sustainability efforts.
