<span style="font-weight: 400\;">Pear and Honeysuckle are quickly taking ov

Cincinnati Parks staff and members of the Alms Park Advisory Council (Alms

ood Park pavilion (4188 Irwin Simpson Rd.)</p><p><b>Why remove invasive Cal
lery Pear and Honeysuckle? </b>Pear and Honeysuckle are quickly taking over
the wooded areas of Kingswood North. If not controlled\, these invasive pl
ants will cause environmental and economic harm to an ecosystem. Invasive s
pecies spread rapidly and quickly shade-out the healthy variety of wildflow
ers\, grasses\, and trees. Eventually\, an ecosystem is dominated with inva
sive species. Left with nowhere to live\, the bees\, butterflies\, birds\,
and other critters move away. By removing these two species\, the Kingswood
ecosystem will begin to function as it once did\, naturally. There will be
room once again for local wildflowers\, grasses\, and trees to spread and
 thrive.</p>

eight: 400\;">Planting native trees is more than just putting seedlings in
the ground — it is actively restoring the natural systems that support the
health of the Ohio River watershed and all of us who depend on it. Native t
rees provide vital food\, shelter\, and habitat for local wildlife\, from p
ollinators to songbirds to mammals. Their deep roots stabilize the soil\, r
educing erosion and the amount of pollutants going into our waterways. And
like all trees\, they capture carbon and help moderate the effects of clima
te change.</span></p><p>All planting will take place in areas that have alr
eady been treated for invasive species. At Kingswood\, Ohio River Foundatio
n and dedicated community volunteers have spent years removing aggressive p
lants that crowd out young trees and disrupt natural habitats. By combining
invasive species removal with native tree planting\, we are building on th
 at long-term restoration work while <span style="font-weight: 400\;">streng
thening</span> the health and resilience of Kingswood Park.</p>
